Built over the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas, this church marks where Jesus was imprisoned and tried before His crucifixion. Ancient steps — the very ones Jesus walked — lead down to the city. A pit prison where Christ may have spent His last night on earth. Here Peter denied his Lord as the cock crowed.
